  10. without requiring PKZIP and PKUNZIP.  It features an intuitive
  11. point-and-click drag-and-drop interface for viewing, running,
  12. extracting, adding, deleting, and testing files in archives.  ARJ,
  13. LZH, and ARC files are supported via external programs.  WinZip
  14. interfaces to most virus scanners.

  62. WinZip is extremely easy to use!  To open an archive simply double
  63. click on an archive listed in the File Manager, drag and drop an
  64. archive onto WinZip, or use the standard Open dialog.  The main
  65. WinZip window features a list box with the names, sizes, and
  66. date/time stamps of all files in the open archive.  This list can
  67. be scrolled and sorted on any field.  A tool bar provides fast
  68. access to commonly used actions.  All options (including window
  69. size and position) can be saved and restored.  Extensive context
  70. sensitive help is always available.

  72. Double clicking on a file in the main window has the same effect
  73. as double clicking in the File Manager.  First the file is
  74. extracted from the archive.  If the file is executable, it is run.
  75. Otherwise, the file is opened by the appropriate application (for
  76. example, Windows Write for *.WRI files) based on standard Windows
  77. associations.

  79. The Windows 3.1 Drag and Drop Interface is fully supported.  You
  80. can drag and drop files from WinZip to other applications.  WinZip
  81. will extract the files before dropping them on the target
  82. application.  The target application will treat the files as if
  83. they had been dropped by the File Manager.  You can also drop
  84. archives on WinZip to open them, or drop files on WinZip to add
  85. them to the open archive.

  87. WinZip's unique "Install/Uninstall Feature" makes it easy to
  88. install and uninstall software distributed in archives.  This
  89. feature can save megabytes of disk space by tracking and removing
  90. all traces of an application.  WinZip will run the installation
  91. program in an archive, give you a chance to try the program, and
  92. optionally offer to restore your system to its original state.
  93. The uninstall step can selectively remove directories, files,
  94. icons, or program groups created by an install program, and can
  95. restore any altered INI files.  You have complete control over the
  96. uninstall process, and no changes are made without approval.

  98. If an archive doesn't have an "install" or "setup" program you can
  99. use the CheckOut facility to easily try the files in the archive.
  100. The CheckOut facility will extract all files and create a program
  101. group with icons for all or some files.  Just double click on an
  102. icon in the CheckOut group to view the corresponding file with the
  103. appropriate application.  WinZip will optionally delete the
  104. CheckOut files and program group.

  106. WinZip requires Windows 3.1 or Windows for Workgroups.  While no
  107. other programs are required for basic operations involving ZIP
  108. files, optional features require one or more external programs,
  109. including PKZIP and PKUNZIP product from PKWARE, Inc, LHA.EXE from
  110. Haruyasu Yoshizaki, or the Shareware ARJ product from Robert Jung.
  111. WinZip interfaces to several programs to access ARC files and
  112. optionally runs most virus scanning utilities.  See the online
